District Motto “Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow, Bears Forever”

It is the responsibility of Baird ISD to create conditions under which every child is provided the best possible environment for learning. That environment must have opportunities for every child to participate fully with the trust that he or she will always be treated with respect by fellow students and the staff of the school district. Providing students with a learning environment in which the students feel safe and confident to participate in an active learning process is not only my number one responsibility as superintendent, but it is also the first responsibility of the campus administrators, classroom teachers, and the district staff. This role is also supported by the Board of Trustees of the school district through their design of policies that reinforce the belief that all students can learn and the belief that it is the responsibility of the school district to create the learning environment to support and encourage learning.

Believing that everyone learns in different ways and at different rates, the teacher sets up conditions in the classroom that allow for these differences and supports the efforts of every student. A master teacher recognizes the diversity of the students in the classroom and builds on the strengths that this diversity provides in terms of learning opportunities. Just as the teachers seek out the strengths of all students, so does the campus administrator build on the strengths of the staff members.

In an effective school system, learning is continuous not just for the students but for everyone in the system. Through well-designed professional development activities, the staff of the district will continue to improve their skills. Part of the continual improvement process for our school system is to make certain that the curriculum we are teaching is aligned to the goals of the school district and to the assessment system of the state. Maximizing our effectiveness as a learning organization requires that the written, taught, and assessed curricula are aligned and that those goals reflect the beliefs of the community regarding our school system.

Together the staff of Baird ISD and the citizens of the community of Baird can build an effective school system that supports the belief that our students are the “Leaders of Tomorrow.” In working together, my decisions will be founded on what is best for the students. You will find that I will always work to make the best decision for the children of Baird ISD.
